Beswick is famous for its horses, but the legs are very vulnerable! Traditional figurines generally augment fragile legs with additional support, such as rocks, tree stumps or the ever-popular crinoline skirt. You can't really do much of that with animals, so Beswick have ignored this tradition and as result their horses look very good, but I keep a special box to hold them upside-down while I fix the broken legs. Some horses are attached to wooden bases as shown below, but this generally means that all four legs get broken at once.

Four legs, and ear and a tail....	...but it came out well in the end.
